Not another music website, but a recognisable world with a deliberate creative logic
Cryptic Vibes needed a presence that could carry the tension, structure, and atmosphere of the music without hiding the content behind visual effects. The answer is an eight-chapter editorial journey with one continuous visual camera and a complete written narrative.
The challenge
Create atmosphere without turning the site into an inaccessible experiment
The cinematic layer had to strengthen the artist identity while the copy, navigation, SEO foundation, and experience on less capable devices remained dependable.
Creative direction
Eight chapters, one camera, and an evolving sound environment
Threshold, Pressure, Structure, Series, Origin, Web, Bloom, and Return form a controlled dramatic arc. The procedural WebGL world and adaptive audio follow that same rhythm rather than behaving as separate effects.
03 / 06 Implementation
Astro, Three.js, GSAP, and adaptive audio operating as one progressive system
Static HTML carries the complete semantic layer. Three.js and GSAP are deferred and add the continuous WebGL movement only when the environment supports it. Eight original audio sources are filtered, pitched, panned, and crossfaded between chapters only after explicit visitor activation.
04 / 06 Accessibility and delivery
A cinematic layer that never blocks access to the content
- A complete static reading path remains usable and understandable without JavaScript.
- Visitors who prefer reduced motion receive a still version of the same authored journey.
- When WebGL is unavailable, every chapter and its content remain present instead of collapsing into an empty canvas.
- The decorative canvas is excluded from the accessibility tree, and audio is neither requested nor started before explicit activation.
- The static production build ships through Cloudflare Pages with animation dependencies loaded only when needed.
